I noticed they pulled our thread. Did anybody see what the last post was? I wish I knew what happened.

I was just going to ask Joe what it would take for me to get banned. How about another classifieds venue? Mike

I will think hard and see if I can come up with something that both keeps the original mission in tact and opens things up to the amateur astronomy community in general. It won't be a quick project, as I am not the most computer savvy person in the world. (Was a huge struggle just to muddle through this far!) I'll start a thread for feedback on ideas that I can bounce off the membership. I hope I can learn as I go......at least enough to get something functional and acceptable to you guys.

You should start off with small steps. There are a lot of dead forums out there. One is called Telescope Junkies. There are a couple of active threads but most have not been touched for a year or more. I noticed a couple of names over there that are now at CN. One is a mod in the refractor section. A few of the forums I used to visit on Yahoo are dead now also. The refractor group has been dead for sometime now. Of course, they were Istar bashers also. I disagreed with Roland on some subject and the rest of them jumped all over me to the point I quit. If you look at Astromart it's pretty much the same thing. Many are dead and they have a strange format. CN is the most popular by far of course not counting across the pond. Australia has one called Ice in Space of something and it's pretty popular. I know all these as I am always looking for Istar fans. Another that is real popular if you're into solar is the solarchat. Nice group of guys. Really welcomed me even though I am an Istar dirt bag. Have had some nice chats with guys there.

I know I jokinly indicated to get right on it but in truth, I can't imagine it would fly. CN is it. It would take a significant population of disgruntled folks across multiple forums to begin to sustain a brand new forum. AM has started to pay for reviews but the reviewers are still submitting to CN. Why? More eyeballs, more status. Even with APhysics owner on AM it draws little attention. The CN refractor forum is undergoing a little heartburn right now but this too will pass. Rather than getting into long winded discussions with folks about "issues", tell them to take it to the manufacturer. Istar has a satisfaction guarantee so that should cut things off as it relates to them. In any case feeding the controversy beast never brings a good outcome.
Just my 2 centavos.
Jim

Just so you all know, the Thread on Istars was removed for review as David Pavlich thought it was "product pushing"
Surely every thread that mentions any brand name in a favourable light is " product pushing" according to these people.
Cheers, Kitch

Thanks for the info Kitch. I thought 50% of the threads on CN were product pushing. I guess ours was too obvious. But then so was the $60 scope thread. At least they were fair and took that one off too. You got to at least say that for them. I wonder what would have happened if someone started a thread called "Enjoying astronomy with my Astro Physics telescope." Bet they wouldn't have taken that one down.
It was a good thread while it lasted. I enjoyed seeing and hearing from everyone.

Not to worry I am starting a new thread there after I type this , it should be about 2.30am there so it may last a few hours before getting squashed . It will be titled ' Viewing sessions with my Isatr 127mm achro ', in Refractor forums , here goes , and guys please get on board , fuck the police ! . Brian.

I M P O R T A N T - I’m asking our customers who posted those nice deep space photos made with Asteria TCR 150-12 R35 on CN under the last thread which was (again) locked end erased by CN moderators. I’m urging you, please post your new and future photos right here on Istar Scope Club with your comments and observations on how this brand new style refractor is behaving under different conditions. Hundreds of people are interested and waiting impatiently including me. You own a truly different and revolutionary type of refractor which was first doomed by Mr. Barnett the first time he saw it on CN, without even paying attention to the actual engineering and design (he called it a 300 year old and absolutely worthless piece of crap he did not really care to look at any closer)... luckily Bill Griffith, member of the James Webb Space Telescope engineering and design group, was of a totally different meaning. After one whole day hanging around the Istar booth during the recent SCAE Show in California, studying the overall construction, He called our TCR refractor the "most innovative telescope coming out in years"... and "the most advanced refractor construction available to amateur astronomers". Funny how two people can have two absolutely different opinions on a single product... personally I take opinion of the NASA telescope engineer over word of a lawyer who never saw one of these TCR scopes in person. Back to the subject. I want to ask you to take more photos with your Asteria TCR 150-12 R35. Use a proper filters and try to experiment with other CCD cameras. I strongly believe that this Asteria scope and all other models equipped with our R30 or R35 SLIM doublets, from 127 F8 and F12 to 204 F8 and F12 and thinking of producing the monster flagship 220 F12 R35 (if there is interest out there for such large but super light refractor) are capable of not only superb visual performance, but they are capable of producing a truly excellent deep space photography. I was told my numerous people BEFORE and AFTER we introduced TCR to the market that this idea simply cannot work visually (because of a total lack of resolution and soft images) and definitely is not suitable for any kind of astrophotography. I was told so many times that current, hundreds year old enclosed tube design was tested by time itself and nobody came out with anything better. Well, I designed the TCR to prove them all wrong and you are the first "guinea pig" who is testing the TCR scope equipped with our R35 SLIM doublet in real life, outside of our lab and artificial star environment. Of course that I personally tested this scope under the stars but as most of you know already, my word has no weight to most people out there, especially the CN bunch. I’m looking forward to your new post on ISC, especially want to see some new photos made with proper filters. It will be definitely more then welcomed on this forum, compared to the locked and erased CN thread. Personally, I cannot believe that any positive thread about Istar optics and Istar telescope has been attacked and then locked by moderators on CN. I also cannot believe that a CN moderator openly welcomes a NEGATIVE posts about Istar as per his own words. Am I still living in the same world or something happened overnight on CN and few other online places…. What happened to amateur astronomers out there. When I was young, all of them were nice and polite people sharing a wonderful hobby. These days, many of them turned into vengeful beasts waiting for their share of the kill….. Sometimes I wonder if they would still be so aggressive and full of hate if they spent one month (or even one week) in my own skin. They would all run away screaming, I’m so sure of that… So back to subject one more time. Keep those photos and comments coming. Thank you!!
Best regards,
Ales

I just looked at the thread I started a few hours ago and its already getting some positive feed back and a few PM's also all positive as well , so that's gotta be good . I hear you on the 'Whats happened to amateur astronomers?' comment Ales , these types are a scurge on good people and I hope they read and understand the opening comments on my thread , aimed directly at 'you know who's' they need to take a good hard look at themselves over this issue . They are hanging them selves over it and I cant wait for a bite . Brian.

The CN post looks good Brian.
My wife and I watch a show called "House Hunters International." I remember one from Australia. Your house reminds me of that episode.

Even though this is way off topic, well pretty far off. I said I was going to refrain from reading CN for a while. I got an email from the CN admin saying they will review my situation at a later date for reinstatement. Usually, multiple accounts is punishable by permanent banning. So I guess I should be happy. What about you Kevin? Still banned?
