We took the scope out to the Anza Borrego Desert M-Th for its first trip to dark skies; it left its storage box zero times. I had the Optic-Craft mount all set-up and ready each night but the constant 20 to 30 mph winds plus the 40 mph+ gusts were too much for me to bother even thinking about using the scope. All the campers nearby kept on giving us the weather thumbs up but even their hopes to look through the scope were not enough to quell the wind. This and the now nearly constant foggy skies here in San Diego are really killing me. Please can I get one week of no cloudy nights or blowing sand? ?

I hate windy nights almost as much as rain! Even with a scope that can handle the wind, I just don't enjoy observing in a gale.
I hope you found enough non astronomy fun to make your trip enjoyable. Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it!
Hoping you have better conditions soon. Joe
