So do you guys use any traditional finder scopes? Or due to scope size do you all use smaller scopes? I a SV F50. I really like it and it's option to be able to switch out the ep.
Hey Mike H. - Has Istar thought about making 50-80mm scopes for general use/finder scopes?

We stock 50mm scopes and brackets that can be used as either finders or guidescopes and use a standard 1.25" eyepiece (illuminated reticle or otherwise).

My goto finderscope always seems to be the standard red-dot. That, along with a low power EP in the main scope, works well. Most objects are found with digital setting circles on my GEM, but I also have a Tak FS78 piggybacked on my Istar for starhopping.

I go star hopping on my 6" f12 so I use a 5º+ finder and a 90mm f11 Achro with a 38mm 70º eyepiece giving 2.7º TFOV, with a nice nice dark background for finding those fainter things….plus it looks so good too! The only drawback to a long FL refractor is the relatively narrow FOV, hence the two finders. Matt
