JP,
Astounding images! How was local seeing when you took these? It looks as though it was probably exceptional. Have you looked at the moon visually using an Ha or Hb band filter, just wondering if the quality of the image is as good?
You really are a great ambassador for Istar. Have you sent these to Charles Woods for his lunar picture of the day?
They really do deserve to be seen by a wider audience.
Keep up the good work.

Wow JP! Like looking out a window. That first shot of Mare Crisium is very cool. Rumor has it you're considering a larger aperture build

What glass you got in your Windows Mike? I wish the moon looked like that out my window. Talking Windows, did you know that Horace Dall had plane parallel polished optical glass in the Windows of his upstairs study? He told me he had obtained it from a contact who had access to surplus optical inspection Windows from a nuclear power plant project. I viewed through the window using his 6" pocket Dall cassegrain and no detectable, distortion.

JP,
Those lunar images are extraordinary! They are far far superior to my best attempts with a dslr camera and 5" APOs.

Only combination of excellent optics and highly skilled imager can produce results like these! Congratulations on the job more then well done Jean Pierre. With your permission we would like to present some of these images on our website. And YES, we would be more than happy to custom-design and custom produce your next, even larger telescope objective lens. I put a lot of faith in our newly designed R40-S doublet. If we source the right glass we should have first prototype in 210mm lens diameter at F/8 sometimes by middle of fall 2014. I will keep you and everyone else posted about development of this exciting Steinheil style doublet. I did some experimenting with Steinheil design (flint first) right at the beginning of I start existence. But now with the vast experience we gathered during past 4 years, I'm sure that this one will outperform any other "Rx" doublet we produced so far. All pretty much depends on availability of the right glass. Ales

JP whether you like CN or not it is a site that more than 95% of the amateur public tunes into. I don't like their censoring and their slant on things but I think you do yourself and a lot of innocent viewers a disservice by not posting there! Your great pics are like a noise in the wildweness....unheard and w asted on nothing! Mike
