My build is still a ways off, but I have begun to gather things together. I have the 150 F/5 Achromatic Plus R50 lens coming when they are produced sometime this summer. I also have a Feather Touch 2535 focuser and 30mm ES 82 degree eyepiece incoming. I guess the aluminum tubing will come next, then I can get accurate measurements to have the counter cell, rings, and end plate machined. Does it sound at all like I know what I'm doing?

Hi Joe......May I recommend Hastings for your tubing needs. I don't know if the eastern U.S. has many outlets for large tubing. Maybe for tobacco farms etc. I'm sure that's a "growing" industry. ;D I've had good luck in the past as well as others too that I know of. It might be a little pricy for shipping but heck look what everything else costs with this goofy hobby. At least tubing doesn't need to be upgraded like eyepieces and accessories do. ::)Later Mike

Hastings is just about the only choice I have, as far as the sizes and thickness that I want to use. I'm planning on 7" with 8" for the dew shield. Except for Hastings, every place else that I've seen has way to thick of a tube.
I've heard that Hastings tube can be off round. I guess that won't be much of a problem as long as the dimensions can be determined accurately enough, the countercell and rear plate should take care of that, no?

Si Si senor! When you tap in the countercell the tube will round itself out and grab the cell well before you finally screw it in place. Maybe you'll get one that is true if not no biggie. ;D
