I think he was having some issues with his eye sight (not a good statement to make about an astronomer). It's been sometime since I heard from him. Hopefully he will be back soon. Not seeing him post on CN either?

Hi guys! Health issues and my living situation are making it VERY difficult to get out and observe. I have had cataract surgery on one eye, and everything looks a lot better, but I can't drag out anything bigger than my 80mm scopes due to other issues. I hope, some day, to move some ways away from town, where I can have enough room and visibility to set up a permanent observatory.
I stop in here from time to time, to see that things aren't falling too far into dis-repair, but I'm a little too bummed to participate as much as I should.
I see that things are going well for Istar, and this board is providing a place to keep things real for folks that need good info and honest discussion of Istar and astronomy. That was my mission here. I will be involved more fully in the hobby at some point, but for right now, I'm just.............a Watcher.

Joe, glad to hear you are still involved with this wonderful site. This forum was the reason I purchased my Istar.

Hope the health and other issues resolve themselves Joe. Good luck with the Dark Sky Obs for the future.

Joe, if armchair astronomy is all you can do right now, so be it. Subscribe to every astro magazine out there. Put a patch over the bad eye and read your heart out with the good one. When you get back, we'll be here.
