Hey Guys, One of our customers (Steve Myatt from Pennsylvania) sent me this image. He took it through a new Asteria 150mm F8 R35. No filters, no field flattener, no focal reducer, 50 20 second subs stacked, an off the shelf DSLR at prime focus. Notice the round stars all the way to the edge and just a small amount of halo around the brighter stars. It was taken in his driveway under fairly light polluted skies just outside Philadelphia.

Looked at this pic a few times and it is exactly what M1 looks like to me in my scope, well maybe a bit better than I see but beautiful pic. If any one ever wondered if a non apo scope can take pictures, and we all know they can, then this is it. Love the stars all the way to the edge…beautiful. Thanks for posting and nice nice photo Steve. Matt

Excellent image!
I have seen more blue halo in some, so called, ED apochromats.
There is considerable detail in the nebulae that would probably benefit from magnification. The view in that rich starfield is reminiscent of the view through my 5" rft - just more detail in the picture.

Fantastic image....
I couldn't see this in my heavily light polluted country.......
But I am very happy with the planets from my 8" ISTAR......

Hi Troops, I was testing a new planetary color camera the other night and I took this picture of the Copernicus region through my Asteria R35 150 f/8. The air wasn't really stable so the resolution got chopped down but the thing that caught my eye was the color. True, I was using a Baader Fringe-Killer filter to cut off the IR & UV light. Still, when you look at the picture there's no sign of color fringes of any kind. This looks like it was taken through a reflector.

Hi Mike, I'm using a Qhy5L-ii color camera and eyepiece projection off a 10mm Televue Plossl.
P.S. Are going to NEAF? I'll be there on Sunday so I'll be swinging by the iStar booth to check out the rail refractors...

Unfortunately, a family member must undergo surgery the Friday before the NEAF weekend so I will not be there. We will have scopes on display with iOptron. Stop by and say hello to Doug, Hua and the gang.
