You'll have to pardon the fact this not an Istar Scope but I think the mount would suit some Istar fanatics. This the T-Rex Alt Az mount by Kokusai Kohki in Japan, It is without doubt the nicest Alt/Az mount out at the moment, very smooth actions both with and without the geared slow motion controls. Its carrying capacity would suit many of the Istar scopes. In fact if I had had this mount when I had the Perseus At150 F10 I would not have sold the scope. Here it is with my Takahashi TSA120, Takahashi FS60CB, Stellarvue F50W2 and AF-S Nikkor 80-200 F2.8 and still the actions are perfectly smooth. (Nikon D7000 not attached as its taking the picture)

You are right about the T-Rex Matt they are beautiful . The Oddie refractor looks really sweet now , I remember seeing it after the fire , it was so sad it almost brought tears to my eyes seeing it like that , do you have any idea when it will be back on its own mount and in use again ? Brian.

I got an email from Tim not that long ago and he said the mount was in the process of being restored but did not give a date. Have you guys seen this scope personally? Or, is this pictures Tim took? Mike BTW how dare you put that beautiful Takahashi here on the Istar forum! That is one sweeeeeet setup Kitch. Although, it belongs on an equatorial with a camera attached.

I have actually had a look through this scope already, unfortunately it was in the daytime and all I could focus on were trees several miles away. This pic was taken by me a few months ago, I am going there again next week to do a few more photos including closeups. The Tak system is going to go onto an AP Mach1GTO as soon as funds allow.

Matt. If you have looked through the Oddie II what do the trees look like?
One of my tests of an objective is green leaves and blue sky. Brings out purple nicely if it's there….so…..

Nice pics. This is what I'm planning on by end of summer. Currently have a twilight II and its time for buying the alt-az to last a lifetime. Been checking out T-Rex w/commander XP flash. Also DM6, but leaning heavily towards T-Rex. Beautifully built solutions.
