Hello Jon, two days ago I checked first fully assembled Asteria TCR 204-8 R35 as well as its longer FL brother Asteria TCR 204-12 R35. I could easily handle both 8" OTAs (less lens) with one hand. Weight including mounting rings, finderscope bracket and focuser was approx. 25Lb for F8 and 28Lb for F12 OTA. If you add approx. 11Lb for the lens, then total weight of fully assembled 8" R35 refractors would be 36Lb and 39Lb. If you compare with fully loaded classic OTA incl. all rings, focuser there should be some 12Lb weight reduction. But I will have the exact numbers soon, will post them on our web site, best regards, Ales

The weight of the 204-8 R35 including lens, dovetail brackets, finder scope bracket and focuser is 32 lbs. The weight of the 204-12 R35 with the same accessories is 38 lbs. I just assembled these scopes for show at the SCAE and weighed them.
These weights are extraordinary. For comparison I checked the weight of a 180FL TEC APO Triplet without tube rings and it weighs in at 36 lbs.

Holy cow! My 6" f/12 achromat OTA similarly equipped weighs 41#'s. This strut design is pretty slick. I'll look at this scheme on my next big scope.

Ales and I are pretty excited about these TCR scopes. I have a couple of big mounts so heavier tubes are not really a problem. However, these TCR scopes offer a person a chance to have a large aperture without a huge mount.
