Last night I saw Saturn for the first time this year. It was low in the southeastern sky behind Spica. I wasn't even looking for it. I was looking at the Big Dipper and following it's handle down to Archturus. Then on down to Spica. Then I muttered out loud what's that east of Spica....there is no brighter star in that area. Then it hit me all in a split second's time it's Saturn!! Well it was 29° and 1:12 AM. I observed it for a few moments and the seeing was just so so not great. I could see a good amount of detail even for that lowly of a position.....but nothing to get worked up over. But now I can't wait for warm spring weather and Saturn to reach the meridian by midnight. Well here is my setup to go after the prize this next few weeks. You think maybe I'm well enough armed?? Mike

Probably a small hand full of people on this planet that will have a better view than you Mike. And that, I doubt, will be better by much!
