Has any one taken apart a Synta 6" f8 lens and measured the diameter of the glass? Have a friend who has replaced the lens in a 127mm f8 with an Istar 127mm and been able to swap the lens and use the old cell. Thinking I would like to do the same with my 150 synta f8 if possible and swap for a f8 R30 6" lens. Hope this makes sense. Cheers Matt

That would have been me? true Matt ? Anyway the Istar 127mm clear aperture ( 131mm o/a) is exactly the same as syntas 127mm achro clear aperature ( 131mm o/a) I dont know about the 150mm synta's , but I assume they will be the same . Here is a photo of mine . Photo next post , I kinda blew this ( still learning ) I am afraid . Brian.

Hi Brian...
Great that you make this attempt to retrofit the 127mm star lens cell , and it looks great , as shown in the photo....
Hi Matt...
Although I have a C6R F8 with me, but it does not come with a lens cell that allow you to do collimation....which I do not know your question on the diameter of the lens is important , as compared to istar lens diameter?
By the way, in my opinion , you will need to machine another attachment over the current counter cell assembly, to match onto the istar 6" lens cell... But this attachment will probably add at least an inch or two to the overall length of the OTA, which I am not sure, any issue with focusing... If there is an issue, it doesn't matter , as the end of the OTA tube can also easily m/c down the excess distance....
Hope you het your retrofit done soon as well, and shows us your great work....
Regards

Hi James , sound advice . My counter cell only added 3 mm to the overall length of my Istar/Saxon compared to the origonal Saxon/Vixen cell .and as you can see the origonal Saxon dew shield fitted the Istar cell perfectly , nice . Saved a lot of work . Hope the 150mm ( 154mm ) Istars and Syntas have the same ratio as the 127 ( 131 mm)'s Istars and Synta's , I would think ( hope) so Be interesting to see , that would open a lot of avenues for Istar as my retro fit was easy . Here's hoping someone will do some measuring for us . Brian.
