Hello Glen, Im truly glad you found us! Welcome as a 141st registered Istar Scope Club member. Regarding the new diagonals, we are in process of redesigning them a bit. They will still be extremely sturdy, made of a solid block of aluminum, all CNC machined with massive, laser engraved bottom plate, stainless steel screws and special seal/gasket to avoid any dust or dirt particles to enter the inner part of the diagonal. We will be done with production of parts in about 6 weeks from now and a new batch of freshly redesigned diagonals will be delivered to Starizona in about two months from now. But please contact Mike Harden in Florida under mike.harden@istar-optical.com and ask him if we have some diagonals left in stock, we may actually have few.. but I cant tell from here, as Im still in Europe and our stock in in USA...thank you so much for your interest in Istar products and please stay in touch!! cheers, Ales

Hi Ales...
I have one thing to clarify..................which you have mentioned in another thread, with regards to the RAYCORR.....as follow:-
all Raycorr models will sell with a special Istar brand diagonal already mounted to it. The guessing work of proper distance will be than resolved. Each corrector/diagonal combo will be individually star tested. So to set one of these up will take few seconds.. the original Chromacor required 40 minutes to few hours of set up time incl. a lot of guess work.
So what I want to clarify is that if we purchase the current diagonal from ISTAR, is this the same diagonal, once we purchased the RAYCORR, in the near future? Or the current diagonal will be totally different from the future RAYCORR cum ISTAR diagonal?
Regards
James

Thanks,
I've just emailed Mike. We're in a tight spot as these are the last components for the build and I dunno whether we can hold off for two months. Maybe Mike will have a couple. Honestly tho, we very carefully selected every component before beginning the build and the prospect of going with any other star diagonals is, well...not sure we could do that either! LOL. Let's see what Mike says. Thanks again.

Hi Mike, Ales,
Very sorry for the confusion, but it turns out that the diagonals were just shipped. We didn't know this until today. Thanks again, and we're very happy to be able to finish the build as planned, with quality throughout!

Okay Watcher,
Will do. And since yer in New Jersey, maybe you'll do us the honor of lookin thru them too, as they're gonna be much better that way than the way they look. We're in the Princeton area--East Windsor--and we're always lookin for some dark sky recommendations (a little closer than Cherry Hills State Park, PA would be nice).

AAARGH! Sorry about that. I forgot to change my own profile. I just moved away from Jersey. I'm now in St. Louis. I did live in Little Falls, around Clifton, Wayne, and Paterson. Light pollution was.... Well lets just say, I was able to read news print without the moon being up! The only darker sky I ever used in Jersey was my nephews house in Jefferson. A bit west on Rt 80 and far enough away from Morristown to get a good look at the summer milky way.

Yes James, we will use our own diagonals, same you can buy now. So IF anyone owns one of our giagonals they can but only rest of the assembly, it iwll fit perfectly.. and save some 129 dollars on average... cheers, Ales

Back to the list of 35 scopes now being produced. I just came back from production saw Joes scope being worked on, engraving of the counter cell with text: ARES WFT 150-5 R30 was just finished, we are getting ready to send few pallets of counter cells and rear plates to the powder coating plant tomorrow, due back next week. We are assembling many new scopes now, the assembly room is quite busy. I saw two huge Perseus AT 150-15 finished, one Perseus AT 150-8 finished, two Perseus AT 150-12 finished and one Phonix WFT 150-5 finished. Many more scopes will follow as we have all parts produced just waiting for the powder coating on some. The special diamond polished stainess bolts we use to assemble each scope were also finished today, I dropped 300 pieces off in production. So we are rolling.. same on the optics side. We are getting 20 lens shipemnt in two week time and another 15 lens shipment two weeks later. We may have to wait for the US made focusers, production of those may be a bit late.. but Mike Harden will fill you on this since he has more recent news on this. I will keep everyone posted on the latest development of Raycorr. .. at this stage we are searching for the special glass since this corrector uses several rare types of glass which is not produced exactly on everyday basis by ANY of those 5 largest manufacturers....(Schott, CDGM, Ohara, Hoya and Corning). Russians wont even talk to us.. we are too small for them.. unfortunately. cheers, Ales

Sounds like things are really hopping at ISTAR. If things keep going at this rate you may not be too small for the Russians for very long. I'm really happy to see that some very nice big scopes are moving out the doors. Don't like to wish hard work on anyone, but it comes with success, and Ales I hope you work your ass off! Besides, what is it they say about doing work that you like not being a J-O-B. Well, that's what they say any way, I wouldn't know first hand.

Can't get over how substantial and well-made they are for their price-point. Really like the aesthetics too, and they sure stand out in the focusers. Thank you Ales and Starizona. Can't wait to look through them. Doug

Hello Doug, thank you for your reply. Im glad that both diagonals arrived and you like the solid build and apearance. We pay a great attention to detail and functionality of each product so this is why our scopes, diagonals, etc.. look different from the rest. Starizona sold boxes of these diagonals during past 2 years and we had only one return. Actually these FG diagonals were tested against the very best 400+ dollars diagonals by one of the leading brands and there was no visible difference. I can not say that we produce the best diagonals on the market, my ago is not THAT huge.. but we are very good at what we are doing. Especially considering the price.. as you mentioned yourself. So enjoy, and keep us posted about the outcome!! cheers, Ales

Will Do Ales,
As soon as the build sees first light, which keeps gettin pushed back because other components that did not come from you did have to be returned, unfortunately. These are holding us up a bit. But when we opened yer stars and inspected them I just smiled, while my wife said, "Finally. Something we can keep and use." Beautiful work on the logo cut-out relief BTW.
And we've been lookin at yer scopes. Guess it's only natural to have a refractor to go with the reflector.
Cheers, Doug
