Hello All, Just joining up here...Just became the proud owner of a new 6" f/8 achromat, and while the viewing here in Philly has been dodgy, the few times I've been able to take this out have really impressed me. I used to have an Apogee (same as Meade) AR-6, and this scope out-classes that one in every respect. I gave it to my brother to use, but it was always a fun scope to use, and threw up very good images. The ISTAR is serious business, and it's like looking at everything new again. I've used scopes that test out 1/6th to 1/8th wave at the eyepiece, and this is easily up there. If anyone has any questions, I'll do my best to answering you. Thanks for your time! Doug Herren

Welcome aboard Doug! I was wondering how long it would take you to pop in here. Great looking scope. Congrats. I can hardly wait for my 6" F/5 R30 to be completed, so I can experience the quality for myself. Getting tired of living vicariously through you guys!

Hi Doug, Congrats on the new scope. Can you tell me a bit about the decision to get f8 150. I'm in the process of sorting out what I would like to get and am thinking of 150 f10, f12...am I mad? Was going to make it a project and buy the lens and build the rest but here in Australia sourcing tubes isn't that easy. I would also need a new mount so it's a new beginning all round. So why an f8 and not f10 etc? My present scope is a 150 f8 old skywatcher which is a very nice one. Longer FL is in my mind but not f15, thats too long for me I think. Matt
