I decidedly did not like the style of ISTAR scopes. It's kind of grown on me. I definitely can see why the look is appealing to a large audience, and when you add the precision of a high quality build, I believe it's a good look for ISTAR. However, I tend to not be in love with any "off the shelf" scope, at least as far as style goes. I've seen scopes built from a box, superbly crafted wood scopes, scopes split in two, and scopes with reductions and hatches made from ISTAR lenses. I can't tell you how happy I am that ISTAR sells the lenses separately. I appreciate the looks of elegant scopes from a hundred years ago. I appreciate the totally unique beauty of individual builds, and I appreciate the high tech industrial look of the ISTAR scopes. I think, a hundred years from now, people will be drooling over the retro old school look of ISTAR scopes!

Beautifuly said, thank you. Personally, when I take a look at one of Tim Wetherells scopes (this one with 9" F15 Istar lens. platypusart.com/wetherell/sculpture_oddie2.html ) I can only say "I really want one". There is place for both in this world. I love the high tech look of Istar scopes (I designed each one of them based on my own vision of perfection). But an old style scope with a new, modern set of optics is also appealing to me. Basically, get me few of both and you make me happy... Ales
