Hi everyone, just joined the club my name is Pat my interest is double stars I have a Zeiss AS 80 F1200 at the moment and it is a great scope , but I would like a 150mm scope in the near future and have been reading good reports on the Istar scopes. Has anyone used there scope to split doubles if so how did it go.

Hi Pat. Welcome! I've used a 102-11,150-5, 150-8, 150-12, 152-8 to split doubles. Just to name a few. It's part of my routine in star testing. What would you like to know? Mike

Hi Mike Thanks for the reply just wondering if it would be worth going to F 15 for greater colour correction over the F 12 . Is there much difference in the weght of the 6" F 15 over the F 12 .
Pat.

Pat, 15.84 kg for the 150mm F15 and 14.47 Kg for the 150mm F12. I thought the false color in the F12 I recently test was negligible. Doubles showed good color and separation. There is also 301mm difference in length which may or may not be a consideration when it comes to your mount. On my Celestron CGE it is a matter of laying on my back or sitting low in my observing chair.
