I decided on a Feathertouch 2535 focuser for my 6" F/5 Super Achro. I just ordered it through ISTAR at a savings over the Starlight Instruments price. With ISTAR's price increase, and the fact that I wanted a premium focuser, I changed my mind yet again, and am now going with the R50 Super Achro instead of the R30. In for a penny, in for a pound! I figured if it's going to cost me that much, I might as well go all the way, and see just how good a 6" F/5 achro can be!
Ales also told me that all new lenses will be optimized in green light, and that existing designs will gradually be reworked for green light optimization also. He also promised me that the Super Achros will have zero astigmatism, zero coma, and zero spherical aberration. I'm thinking this is going to be a pretty potent deep sky instrument!

Hi Brother.
I am also interested to acquire the 6" F5 super achro from Istar. Do you have the ISTAR quoted price for both OTA and the lens cells. I prefer to get just lens cell as I want to try to mount it onto my 120 orion tube.

No price yet. I was told that the the price for the R30(30% reduced CA and spot size) would be about 50% higher than a standard achro, and the R50 would be about double. That was before the price increases at ISTAR. Ales told me they are working on the pricing of the R30 now.

Hi Joe and All.
I just received an email reply from Ales, that the new 150 F/5 R30 super achromat will be available in both, lens in cell alone and OTA. Pricing of the R30 will be known by next week, which is around US$775. Prices for R50 will only be available by June.
Anyone interested in the R50? If so, pls let Ales know, then he can push this scope out earlier....
