Got a nice long night out finally. This is our rainy season but the sky usually clears up at night. I have a 150mm Achro F12 that is soon headed to California. Since the Milky Way is up high there is a lot to look at. Several clusters, open and globular are available. I'm really impressed with the scope. Using one of my favorite eyepieces, a 21mm Ethos, stars are pinpoint from edge to edge. The dumbbell looks like 3D. Contrast is great and it really stands out against the dark sky. Split a few doubles. The highlight of the night was Omega Centauri. I never get tired of that giant ball of stars. Very enjoyable night with a nice piece of equipment. One down side though, the mosquitoes were hungry. Hope everyone is enjoying the night sky...

Sounds great. Were you at the Fak last night?

No. I view primarily from my yard. I live about 8 miles from the Hendry Cty. line. It's far enough away from Fort Myers. The summer Milky Way is very bright. The FAK is just a tiny bit darker but a 30 minute drive. I'm paranoid about driving all the way down there in the summer with all my equipment and then having it cloudy. Even in the dry season during the winter it's not really worth the drive but I come just to hang out with you guys. The FaK doesn't have as many mosquitoes as I have. Since my yard is surrounded by wooded lots you get eaten alive. I spray my arms and neck. No problem for them, they just drill my hands and face. I'll definitely be down more this winter just to show off all these new Istar refractors
