Hi All
Do Istar have any plans to make a high quality 50mm objective or scope, F10 or F15 would be ideal for me.
A little about me and the reason for my request:- I'm currently in Botswana ( on what might be a long term job), and left my 2 telescopes ( Obsession 12.5 and TV 101 ) at home, but, I did bring a few bits and pieces. I packed a Coronado SM40 and BF10, a couple of eyepieces and a barlow, all with the intention of picking up a small refractor to use to view the sun, and perhaps the night sky.
My options for a small refractor are at the moment are limited to the MiniBorg 50 ( 50mm objective, 250 mm fl, F5 ) not bad by all accounts, but intended for Guiding and as a finder. However the MiniBorg 50, has the advantage that the SM40 threads directly onto the front Objective saving $100 or so on an adapter plate.
Just curious.
Best Regards and Clear Skies Carl

Welcome Carl. I don't think you'll see small aperture coming from ISTAR. They are a small company producing limited numbers of quality larger aperture stuff. You never know with ISTAR though. If one of Ales' master opticians dreams up a way to make H Alpha cheaper and better, I guess it could happen!
I have heard that the older model Swift 50mm scopes were about as good as 50mm gets. Maybe check out Astromart and the Cloudy Nights classifieds.
