Anybody go to NEAF? Somewhere I saw there was supposed to be some ISTAR products in the Starlight Instruments booth. I talked to a friend, who wasn't looking for ISTAR products, and he said he didn't see anything. He did visit the Starlight booth. I'm just curious what was there. I don't want to bother Ales about it.

Hey Mike,
I heard from Ales on this that there was a problem with the shipment getting to NEAF in time for the show. So, the scopes didn't make it and so weren't there. Next year.
Thanks, -Gord

BUMMER! That man needs some publicity.

Well, that really sucks! Having a couple of scopes that doubters could see, and touch, and look through, could have gone a long way towards ISTAR's street cred!

Joe, we kept that thread on CN going for 2131. Nice job! We're doing the publicity now Ales needs to produce some scopes.
I think that thread might be finally dead. At the end it was obvious we were ganging up on them. Not hard to tell we're on the same side with the "ISTAR" on our signatures. ;D

Heh, heh. Looks like a D&G thread! I think "160mm APO" in the title helped to keep the thread going too!

Just got off the phone with Wayne over at Starlight Instruments. He has two ISTAR scopes sitting in his showroom. And yes, they came in late and missed NEAF. A 150 mm and another smaller one is what he said when I asked him what they were. So, sounds like there are two complete scopes in the country and I would say for sale??? My scope will have a 2.5" round with a 3.5" drawtube. I wanted to see the actual picture on line and make sure this was an adequate focuser for me. Beautiful focuser, black with gold knobs. Should really finish out the scope with it's gold and black theme. I think I'll contact Ales to see if they are for sale. I'll bet someone would like a no-wait refractor.

Got the same focuser for my lens. Very nice! You can see the precision before you even touch it. Just playing with it I can tell that it will hold up to anything you care to hang off of it, and the action is smooth as butter in July. Oh, and it looks great too!

It holds 13 lbs. I seriously thought about the 3.5". It the same one TEC uses. But, $500 more??? Might have countered the weight a little better. I think I'll be happy with the 2.5". It has 3.5" travel. I am hoping that is enough for my cameras and binos.

I emailed Wayne at Starlight, 1 scope sold while the other is going to Starizona.
Who is sucking up all the shipping charges on the Starizona scope I wonder, 400 from ISTAR to NEAF, then what, another 150/200 to Arizona???

I think at this point Ales isn't overly concerned about shipping. Just glad he got another sale and scope to Starizona. Two more! The more out there the better.
