Hi Ales, I am interested in your proposed 170F7 APO, but feel it will be too heavy to handle and of cause high price. Is it possible to build a 6''-7'' diameter doublet semi APO? F ratio can be 7-7.5. Comparing to triplet APO, it is less expensive, much lighter and more portable. I am living in Calgary Canada, here night sky is often crystal clear, but rarely has stable seeing condition, semi APO would be sufficient for deep sky view, and is acceptable if I want to go up to 150x. If the OTA can be built to minimum weight and size, it will have big advantage to other scopes in market. Thanks,
Bing

Thanks, Bing Hello, We have recently redesigned the whole line of APOs and achieved results exceeding our original expectations. All this by implementing some new fresh ideas in modern 3-lens apochromatic design. So, the next in line will be 188mm lens diameter (180 mm clear aperture) at incredibly fast F/5.9 focal ratio. Then the next one up was designed as 212mm lens diameter (204mm clear aperture )with ultra fast, subcompact F/5.9 focal ratio. These triplets we’re designed to work directly with Starizona’s brand new 0.65x 5-element ED reducer-flattener for full frame sensors. The resulting imaging system will achieve previously unseen F/3.8 focal ratio. As to the price, I expect the 188mm lens in metal cell to retail at around $6900 and the complete telescope at around $11,500. This is a rough estimate and we will come up with exact prices in the next couple of months. Please let me know if you have any other question. Thank you very much.
