Hi Kit Schweitzer here. I am planning to order a 127mm acro plus tomorrow. I have a brass tube and focuser, and have cast a bronze end cap. the whole assembly needs machining and weighs a ton, but when it's up and running it will look very classy. It will ride on an Orion atlas mount until I can restore an historic mount that is missing quite a few parts. I've always wanted a brass scope and believe that they should be as much fun to look at as through.

Sounds like a fun restore. Post some photos for us to look at.

Can't wait to see this one! I love "old school" refractor style and beauty, especially when paired with modern high performance lenses. Definitely keep us posted on your build, and welcome to the fold!

Wow! Every time I play with Brass, I wonder how others do it. I find it to be so hard, none of my taps ever bite! I'll have to keep an eye on this one!

Hi Kit
I like the look of classic brass refractors. I am expecting delivery soon of the 127mm F12 achro plus lens in cell. Unfortunately I have to go away to work for a few weeks from the 4th of April so I won't get to start on telescope construction until May but I will post my progress in the ATM section when the time comes. I will be making a plywood tube.
