Hi, Mark from Moonraker Telescopes here and I hope to join in on a few chats in the future regarding Istar telescopes and lenses.......That's if it's alright with you . Following a chat with Ales, he has given me kind permission to post on this forum. Why? Well I have a number of Istar lenses and will be using these in future builds and at present I have just finished a telescope destined for a client this week. It uses the Istar f10 150mm doublet. I hope to be doing star tests tonight, but daylight tests proved most excellent, with minimal fringing in bright sunlight on leaves on a hot day with thermals. Not exactly a fair test at +200x, but the spiders looked cool and the image was crisp across the field of view! The scope below {really bad fun video, watch out for loud music, this is usually playing when I'm machining} has been designed for use with bino's without the barlow as well as normal cyclops 2" EP's. Fully loaded the "Supernova" weighs in at about 15kilos. I'll be expecting great things from this lens and build and for the fraction of the price of an APO lens on it's own. This Achro should deliver interstellar Planetary views as well as stunning vistas of the Milkyway from it's dark sky sight. If anyone is embarking on a self build project please feel free to pick my brains {what little there is of them} Contact me via the forum or directly at info@moonrakertelescopes.co.uk

Hi Mark,
Another spectacular 'scope! I look forward to catching up with you at the IAS later this year.
Do you have any images of that superb tripod you made earlier this year that you could post here? I am sure that visitors to this forum who are contemplating a portable mount for a new refractor would love to see it.

Hi Ian, Thanks for that and hopefully look forward to seeing you at IAS, but I may not attend this year, just not sure yet as I may have to be in Australia on a Telescope build thing.......More info on my website soon, but the first part is happening so a trip to Scotland to meet the clients. I've attached a couple of images of the tripod with the 102 12 Istar scope attached and a picture of the 150mm f5 that John mentioned in your thread about your new Istar 150mm look forward to seeing it . Off to install the Istar f10 tomorrow and back on Friday. Cheers, Mark.

Hi Mark, Great video...lots of fun. First came across your creations a few years ago when I started to think about building a refractor. Beautiful scopes you build...specially your tuibe rings. I'm a big fan of steampunk designs, in telescopes that is, so long may you continue creating Australia??? Is that in Melbourne at Astronomy Alive? I'm in Melbourne too. Great place to live...awful place to observe from. Ohh and a big welcome to ISC. Matt

Hi Marcello Thank you. Each scope is unique and designed for the client. Functional, aesthetic and unique. We make what you want not what we want to sell you. Another Istar creation coming soon,........☺

Images coming soon of a Istar 150mm f12 build. I'm fortunate enough to have one whole Perseus and another 150mm lens in cell. Here is an image of the complete OTA acquired a couple of months ago.
