Hello weary winter astronomers, Need a break during the winter? Warm breezes and sunny skies sound good? Want to experience some of the best seeing in the eastern United States? The view looking south over the Straits of Florida is fantastic. Ever view or image over water? The Southern Cross and Eta Carina are visible at this 24 degree latitude location. The star party is held on a narrow strip of land less than a mile wide between the Gulf of Mexico and the Florida Straits. Bunk houses, tent camping and RVs are the accommodations with bath houses, food service, vendors, door prizes, ice cream social and guest speakers. One solid week of pure astronomy. Registration is now available but hurry as attendance is limited. Winter Star Party Registration here Mike

One of these days I'd love to come up North. Also one of these days it's in my plan to run a B+B with Istar refractors of the 6 and 8" variety on EQ mounts for viewing the marvellous Southern sky and maybe a few of those reflector things!
I have no idea how you guys view in the temperatures that you do….photos of scopes with snow on the ground…S N O W….horrible cold wet stuff…. enough to put me off I can tell you.
Looks like a great spot though….have fun.

Matt,
Be sure to let us know when you open your B&B, a winter down south away from the wet is very appealing! Especially with those telescopes to use.

There is never any snow where I live Matt. I moved away from that stuff many years ago. Don't like it one bit. The picture with the WSP banner was taken in February where it was 75 to 80 degrees every day. Mid 70s to 80 and no precipitation is the norm all winter long here.
Let me know when you open your B&B 'cause I want to see and image the southern skies.
