I have a first generation 127 f12 R30. Due to the weight of the dew shield, I am using a home made cork one in order to keep the front end weight down. Is there any chance of getting one made from the lighter material you are now using? Even if it is white, I could paint it black myself.
Thanks, Bob

Hello Bob, We have only made one version of the 127-12 R30. I don't know if we will design a second generation scope in this aperture and focal length or not. We have so many projects going right now I'm sure it will be a while if we do. If we were producing any other 127mm scopes we could maybe retrofit a dew shield from one from them. Except for the 127-12, none of our other 127mm scopes sold well so we discontinued them. However, Ales will eventually read this post and let's see if he adds anything different.

We do not plan production of a new style 127 f12 R30 or R35 SLIM OTAs, just like Mike said. We see more future success in production of 140mm and larger OTAs. We are now concentrating on design and production of lightweight refractors in 140, 160, 180, 204 and 228mm of clear aperture a varieties of focal lengths from F5 to F9. These will cover the entire range of usage, from rich field observing and photography, through visual study of the moon, planets, binary stars as well as high resolution photography of planets. Many changes will be gradually made in our line of scopes during upcoming months and years. Mike and I will keep you posted.
By the way, some of you are waiting for the final stages of Phoenix WXT 204-6 production and testing. First finished scope was tested last night during the MHV star party in Czech Republic. The results surpassed my high expectations. This rich field Comet Hunter is one serious deep space instrument equipped with the latest achromatic doublet. CA is extremely well controlled, great resolution , very tight pinpoint stars to the edge. Even though these scopes are produced with maximum usable magnification of 0.25D in mind, this doublet can handle up to 0.75D with ease to my pleasant surprise. This new 8" refractor is also very, very lightweight and easy to handle. I will write more about this scope soon, pictures will be posted here in ISC and our iStar Optical web site. Parts are all finished going to USA for final assembly and shipment to customers. Some of you were waiting longer than anticipated, I thank you all for your patience. I can simply promise you that your wait is well worth it. This new Phoenix gave me some of the best deep sky views I ever experienced. Yes, it is that good! Optics with all CNC machined, newly designed parts and tubes is a match made in heaven.
Best regards, Ales
