The UK based Altair Astro has designed and built this beauty. It would look great under the new CEM60-EC I took delivery of Tuesday. It is said to be highly stable and hold an enormous amount of weight. In fact, far more than the 60 pounds the CEM was designed for. It will also accommodate the iEQ45. Who wants one? StarbasePotential problem... it's only 36" (90cm) tall not including the head. With the added height of the head is it too short for anything F8 and over? Attachments:

Id buy a CEM60 if I wasnt about to start a massive pillow block gem project 12"gears x 3.5" axials !
On the CEM60's 60lb capacity, is that real life 60lbs? Or some "peak measured weight at a standstill position with no wind"
I could probably get away with using that on my 150 f/15, but 100lb capacity is probably more realistic.
The starbase looks neat, kind of like a launch pad for a rocket. I dont think i would trust it in the grass however. It will likely sink down to mud level after several hours without some sort of coasters.

OOPS , when I first loaded the link the price was missing , just looked again and it was there ,, hmmm 700 quid ?? about $1300aud + post ,, hmmmm ?? I could easily build an extension of about 500mm that would mimic the design .. Hmmmmm Brian.

I talked to Nick and he said they could easily add a section or two to accommadate refractors. I asked for a price on that.

I always use small planks of wood under the feet. Not because of fear of the feet sinking but to keep them clean as we often setup in the grass and even on the beach in packed sand. However, the "Starbase" feet are 80mm in diameter so I don't think sinking in the grass will be an issue. I would still use the planks because I wouldn't want to get those nice shiny feet dirty.
iOptron engineers always under rate the weight capacity of their mounts. The mount is actually capable of more than 60 pounds but who would want to? Besides there will be a CEM120 coming this fall.
And, to echo the words of Brian... It looks so cool!
