well now that i know it will post let me tell everyone about my self i am in the military and have been since 1986 i currently live south of indianapolis. i started with refractors in 1982 when my father walked in the door with a JASON 313 (circle T towa) we lived in the high desert out west so that scope did wonders on planets! i still have it today! have tried lots of other scopes but always come back to the clean sharp views and quick cool down of refractors, i have refractors from 60mm to 152mm. i make my own mounts for my scopes, tried goto in the past but i like the thrill of the hunt and keeping it simple. days drag when you are waiting on a new scope to arrive!!

Welcome rayden68. I was in Indiana years ago at Bunker Hill AFB out side Peru Indiana. Congrads on the new scope. I just ordered a new iOPTRON IEQ45 mount. I have a refractor now. I now have a mount that someday will hold an ISTAR scope soon as I can save enough money probably next year (2015). When you are retired it takes time to save money. I am probably looking at one of the Comet Hunters or something like the one you bought. Have fun with the new one. ------------------------ Bill

Hi Rayden68 and welcome. Congratulations on the big Istar. I purchased one of the comet finders when it was on offer. Still getting parts for the mount together (a heavy duty alt-az). Like you I have never had a goto telescope and after 50 years of star hopping I really don't feel a need for it! Let us know when the wait is over and you have the telescope.

Ray, my wife and her family are from Indianapolis (her mother from Southbend). She still has lots of friends and family there. Did I see yesterday at maybe 10:00 AM only 1 degree? I send email back and forth with our friends there. I send pictures of the sun shining always including some palm trees etc. I know, that's mean Mike
