That is impressive JP. The structure is incredible. M42 is my favorite target.
If you could use a focal reducer and get a larger field I would really like to see that.

I still don't believe it. I'm not buying one of them lenses 'til I see a test report by Rohr or another highly regarded third party. If I was you guys I'd hold off.......at least when hell freezes over! JRB

Beautiful photos. This is the closest photograph I have seen that corresponds with my eyepiece views of M42 in 6" and 8" scopes. Remarkable. I think this is my favorite M42 picture I've seen yet because of the clearly defined Trapezium area combined with mottling and folds of gas clouds in greyscale.
I love it. This should be an example to people viewing visually on what to nearly expect with some med-high mag and a larger scope.
Keep the photos coming. Jupiter graphic on IO transit was amazing too. I saved this M42 picture. Most impressive!

Would be very interested to see Flame nebula and Horsehead done in small scale with your scope where it captures the entire region. The lack of color and clearly defined regions with very bright stars are far more representative to what is actually seen through visual observing than any other photograph I have ever seen posted. Truly amazing scope and amazing talent with photography.

WOW WOW WOW…..Truly beautiful photos. I know nothing about imaging but really like the lack of colour (thats color for you guys). I'd like to see a lot more B+W pics and agree it is kind of what I see at the eyepiece. Keep adding more JP Matt

Another vote here for a great image without colour. I spell colour this way also. I really like the detail that the black and white photo brings out.

Thank you for your comments I did not too much process the image of M42 to produce best of what we can see in the ocular of a telescope The next target (when the weather will be finally clement in the South of France the Horse Head Nebuale I am certainly going to buy in a reducer of focal APCCDT67 to have less of focal and a better sampling for my CCD JP

Great JP! We anxiously await your next post. Love the horsehead region also. If I'm calculating correctly that should make your scope more like F6. (F9 X .67 = F6) I was going to calculate the increase in field of view but I didn't remember which CCD camera you were using. Should allow you to get much more of the Orion Nebulae itself. That whole Horsehead region with the flame nebulae is pretty big. Maybe you would need close to a 2 degree field to get it all in? You might just barely fit it.
