Hi JP,
I am looking forward to the sun gaining some altitude so that we can see more solar images from you. It seems incredible, given the quality of your images, that your telescope was out of alignment!
How did you go about collimation, was it with filters removed and using a star test?

hello Ian and thank you I use the collimation on artificial star and camera I place my artificial star from 9 microns to 30 meters of the OTA, I place a Barlow 5x more a red filter and the camera I make an image of the figure of airy as if I made an image of planet, I handle the avi on autostakkert, ondelette under Registax6 and I observe the first ring of diffraction then I adjust the screws of collimation by small touch until the ring is centered well The advantage of this method, it's because it is impersonal To the left the collimation with which I have make my photos of the sun until today, to the right the current collimation after collimation, there is a residual trefoil certainly caused in a too much squeezed ring JP

Great way to collimate JP. I often collimate refractors with an artificial star to save on precious dark sky time. Other advantage of collimating large telescopes is not having to wait for a night of good seeing.I had not thought of using a camera as well to remove the personal element, I will try this out next time I collimator using my dslr on liveview with 10x electronic zoom. Thanks for the idea.

Thank you Mike Ian, you can use your DSLR and live view, but the ideal is to make a film with a planetary camera ( Avi of 1 mn )and make the process like the images of planetary ,staking with Autostakkert and Ondelette with Registax6 JP

Understood, I will shoot a movie, convert to avi and use registax. I don't have a planetary camera yet, but have just found another reason to get one.
