Anybody using any of the Istar anastigmats for imaging (DSLR, CCD). Either planets/moon or DSO.
If so. which scopes?

Jon, I imaged the moon with a 127-8 R30. No problem. Images were tack sharp. Used an Imaging Source Camera. Most of the time when I get these scopes out they are being tested for the customer so I don't have a lot of time to "play." I don't know why but people are always so anxious to get their scopes Talk to you guys in a couple of weeks. I'll post pictures when I get back. I already sold the 150mm F12 R35 that I am taking with me for display. Shipping it directly to the new owner as soon as the show is over. This scope is awesome! Black powder coating throughout and red anodized back plate and counter cell. The baffles work so well when you peer down the tube through the back plate in broad daylight it looks totally black. Ales did some outstanding engineering on this scope. So anybody who thinks there is a contrast or stray light problem with TCR scopes... RASPBERRIES TO YOU!

I love raspberries!
I am the proud owner of this TCR 150 R35 scope, only 18 pounds, and can't wait to see it.
Maybe a Raycorr later?
Mike, take some good pics of the scope when it is set up for display at the show.
And thanks Mike for the excellent advice and service.
And thanks Ales for this unique and beautiful design!

And a second serving of raspberries for me, maybe next year, would be a TCR 204 R35 F12 at around 38 lbs.
Also with a Raycorr?

Hey Mike wait a sec!! Don't waste any raspberries on a doubting Thomas. I'll take them on a big slab of pound cake and a 1/2 gallon of vanilla ice cream!! Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmm good! Mike

JonS Hell Jon, the weight of each scope is indicated with mounting rings, focuser, viewfinder bracket. No eyepiece. So for the Raycorr please add some 800 grams, give or take. I still hope to introduce the Raycorr in a reasonable amount of time, but we are totally dependent on our master optician. All other things are taken care of including getting all glass types we neeed for this product. I will keep you all informed right after I find out more about what will be introduced when. The good news is that Im working on additional TCR scopes and I came up with even lighter TCR refractors for our smaller models which I wanted to keep in original Classic fully enclosed tube design. Scopes now being designed are following Perseus TCR 204-9 Asteria TCR 180-8 R35 Asteria TCR 180-12 R35 by end of this year or during first months of 2013 we are going to add the following: Perseus TCR 150-10 Perseus TCR 150-8 Phoenix TCR 150-5 Phoenix TCR 127-5 Asteria TCR 150-8 R35 Asteria TCR 127-12 R30 Asteria TCR 127-8 R35 Asteria TCR 250-11 R30 we may work on other models as it largely depends on what type of scope are our customers mainly interested in. I can design a new scope from scratch in 4-6 weeks including production of some prototype parts, we can assemble prototype in additional 30-40 days and ship actual new scope only couple of weeks later. Best regards, Ales

I want to see some deep space photos taken thru these scopes, both with a set of narrow band filters (those will produce images absolutely comparable with the best APOs on the market) or direct color imaging with use of couple of filters. I strongly believe that our R35 scopes are capable of producing some truly outstanding images of planets, moon and deep space. We should have some photos in hand by endn of summer or so. Will share them with you, of course, best regards, Ales

Ales,
Just received my Asteria TCR 150m F12 R35 that Mike shipped directly from from SCAE last weekend.
Beautiful scope!
I intend to do some imaging with this scope in the next few months, and will post images with my thoughts and comments.
