Hi Everyone I have received notice from Mike in Florida that my 180 mmf-8 Istar R30 lens is on its way!!
I will let every one know when it has landed.
I assume the other 8 big lenses sent out will also be shipped.

WOO HOOO! Can't wait to see the comments coming out on these lenses. Sounds like a really good size for an overall refractor, especially when the Raycorrs arrive.

Kevin I bet your sweatin' bullets like I was. I hope it comes by air and not a slow steamer who's ultimate destination is China. Too bad you can't beat James Ling's record.....first Istar objective lens to have encircled the entire globe!! Mike

The lens has landed in NZ, it is held by customs who will demand all manner of fees and tax before I can claim it. I am hoping it is going to work well as a largish aperture fast deep sky refractor, hopefully in the 50-150 X range it will be a killer. I own a nice Zeiss 130 mm apochromat and I am not expecting this scope to nail the planets. I am really interested in seeing it and the dimensions etc, so I can contemplate how to make a scope. work with my mounts etc Kevin

Kevin, I am one of the 180's. It's sitting in a box right now. I am trying to design and build a simple wooden rail telescope for now. How are you going to install your 180?

Received my 180 f12 R35 Monday. Hoping to build a solar scope fed by a heliostat.

Yep! Had word from Mike that my 8" f12 R35 is on its way. I have a tracking number but not showing any milage yet! Its coming over to me in the UK. Woke up this morning and made some calculations on weight.........I may be going down the road of my original plan to single fold so it can be permanently left on the mount! We shall see..................
