Just a short test question. How many of you would be willing to pay more for your lenses if Istar manages to open a production in European Union. The price would go up by min. 30 percent and even more on some models. Im simply curious since there is a real chance of us offering a high quality EU made lenses in the future and than this technology and know how would be partially transfered into USA. I hope to get as many replies as possible. We would specialize in larger aperture R30 doublets and triplets. Thank you in advance,

Hi Ales! Well not me because I'm all set. But if I weren't I'd be against it. Because quite frankly I don't give a damn where or who made the lens as long as it meets your specs! In the end as a consumer it's the performance that counts not what humanoids made it and where they live! My two cents worth. Oh and by the way.......30% minimum? :oGulp! Mike

Why produce them in Europe? You're going to eventually end up in the US, right? Since I have 18 years experience working in and supervising an optical laboratory why not build a lens facility here? Let's build everything here.  |

I don't want to pay hard earned US dollars to support the runaway European life style that we are fighting to avoid in the states. If you can keep price levels from rising with a made in the USA model, I'd say go for that. Hell, open a warehouse or something in St. Louis, and I'll go to work for ya! ;D
