Hi all,
I placed my order for my forfax 140-12 super apo about a month ago and I thought of something that might be useful for my scope. I will be using an alt-az mount (TREX and/or DM6) to mount my 140-12 and am thinking that I may have some balance issues. I use a denk binoviewer with power switch, and with each position of the power switch the focal position changes, the focuser needs to be racked out. I will also be using eyepieces of different weights, varying from 6oz. each to 17oz each. I do not want to have to move the scope in the rings, or the dovetail in the cradle every time I switch powers or eyepieces.
I was wondering if there is a readily available balance aid for long scopes such as this. My best solution was just a weighted (1-2#s), hinged ring that I could slide up and down the tube as i change focus positions and/or eyepieces.
If there is anything out there such as this, please let me know where I can get one, or if you have any ideas for a solution, let me know! The outer diameter of my scopes main body will be 140mm FYI.
Thank you all in advance!

Hi Ryan, You could try www.crawmach.comIf you go to the bottom of the telescope accessories page you will notice a new product that Dan is making. Looks to be a nice little counterweight system. Enjoy your new scope. Istar make excellent objectives. Regards. Glen.
