Some of you have no doubt heard of Tim Wetherell the Australian artist and astronomer. He now has a page on his website showing the new telescope he has made using an 8.7" f15 Istar lens. Please delete this thread if the link has already been posted. platypusart.com/wetherell/sculpture_oddie2.htmlAndy

Thanks for posting this link Andy. We're quite proud Tim chose to install our lens into such a beautiful instrument. The man is indeed an artist. Mt. Stromlo is fortunate to have such a well crafted telescope.

Not to take anything away from Tim's fantastic work, but yeah, you would think the guys who made the lens for such n important refractor would get a mention.
Oh well. At least anyone who followed it on CN or Tim's own website knows it's an ISTAR.

Actually, I was kidding. Tim has given us mention when he didn't have to. In a write up about the history of Mt. Stromlo and it's restoration, Tim mentions that Istar made the objective. The director of Mt. Stromlo said he was very happy with the scopes performance. Check out this abstract photo. You can see the Istar text. Attachments:

I know. The word is definitely out. Just talking about the one article that missed it!
