Just wanted to say hi quickly, i am new here on this forum but have been looking at istar lenses and otas for a while. I am not quite at the stage that i would like to tackle a build so I am strictly looking at otas now.
I am from Port Matilda, PA and 24 years old. I just graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Civil Engineering but currently train as a professional shot putter for Nike training at Penn State University.
I own 2 refractors (AT 72ed and AT111EDT) one dob (Z12) and currently am waiting on a TREX alt-az mount which is due to arrive in about three days. I am mostly a visual observer and enjoy planetary and lunar the most. i have been observing for about 2 years now and have loved learning about telescopes and how they work. I am interested in adding a long focus refractor soon because I think they are just plain neat and have heard that they are slightly easier to focus because of their large depth of focus.
just a little about me, not sure if it was too much or what the standard procedure is, but that is me.
Looking forward to getting a lot of good info from this forum,
-Ryan W

Ryan, welcome! Glad to have you. You have a good collection of scopes started. Planetary is my favorite also. All you need is a nice long 6" F12 to compliment that collection and I'm just the guy to help you Mike

Mike,
Do you know of any Istar members in the PA area with either long Istar otas or long otas made with istar lenses? I will be needing some help deciding on an ota, but either way ill win!

I don't remember hearing of one being shipped there but if there was your post will hopefully bring it out.
