First off, hello all, I am new here but have been looking at Istar lenses and otas for about 6 months now. I am from Port Matilda, Pennsylvania and 24 years old.
I was originally looking into the 150-12 achromat, but now i have become interested in the Forfax 140mm and 160mm super apos. My question is simple: how much does each of these scopes weigh? I am assuming the 140 weighs about as much as the 150-12 achromat...this might not be correct. If anyone can tell me how much each weighs i may have to hop on the order list in a little while.
Any help is greatly appreciated,
-Ryan

Ryan, you're probably right in the comparison because although the 140 is smaller in diameter it's a triplet. I will check the weight on both and get back to you. What kind of mount are you planning to use?

Mike,
I am not sure about which mount I will use, most likely it will be my newly purchased TREX, the reported capacity for the mount is 35#, but it has been reported that that is quite conservative, so hopefully it will work for almost purely visual work. Thank you for the info! Also, are the two forfax models available now or are they only available for pre-order?

Ryan, you almost always have to pre order a scope. We're a small company that builds custom telescopes and the name of the game is to keep producing scopes at a rate that when we get them finished they're sold. Pretty much the way specialized product companies work. Not a big deal though, doesn't take that long to come in. However, in the Forfax line the 140 is newly designed, although the prototype already tested out well, and the 160 has been redesigned so I would have to check production to get an accurate delivery time. If you have more specific questions your welcome to PM me. Mike
