Hi Everyone, I was just over on IStar's website, and I notice the prices for the lens have gone up. Anyone else notice this, or hear anything about it? The 6" achros are now $519 (vs. around $385-415 before), and I see the 8" achro is now $1619. I knew it was going to happen, only a matter of time given the quality, and now seemingly higher demand. Now I'm kind of kicking myself for not grabbing one of the 8"ers earlier! Clear skies,

Guess it had to happen.I guess this is going to affect me. I had already paid for an achro, then changed my mind, and went with the Super Achro, before the price was even set on the Super Achro. It's still not bad pricing, but this is gonna hurt.

Hi everyone...
Yes. The price for ISTAR scope is definitely going up....
I have just received the email reply from Ales, and the 8" F8.8 refractor OTA is no longer priced below USD3000.
According to Ales's email reply to me, the scope will be above US$3300 and the prcing will be available soon. The listed price last year is only USD2700.
Regards

I'm not surprised at the increase in price. These are very good optics, and very good optics do cost.
With them being built in europe wouldn't help the situation either.
I'm still looking forward to seeing some first light reports on the complete OTA's.
Regards. Glen.

It's my understanding this is also driven by higher quality standards being implimented. Apparently lenses mailed from the far east weren't being QC'd properly based upon early CN reports. ISTAR is still offering the ATM the widest selection of reasonably priced refractor lenses of anyone in the marketplace.
