James!
absolutely marvelous photos. Thanks for posting.
This is impressive for a straight CCD capture through the standard iStar 8" F8.8.

Hi All..
This morning I playback my Canon DSLR video recording of some video clips I captured using eyepiece projection.. And even I use Ultima 7.5mm and televue 4.8mm eyepiece for the projection to my DSLR body, the image size is still small... My DSLR could not go further any magnification as the image breakdown badly.. Visually I can power up the 8" ISTAR to 480x using celestron Ultima 7.5mm eyepiece with the 2x Barlow, but just couldn't do so when doing eyepiece projection with the 2x Barlow...
Nevertheless the following two short video clips I downloaded to utube this morning is the best I can achieve last night...
Hope all of enjoy spending your valuable time to read my reporting on this Mars opposition..
Regards
James Ling

Thanks again James,
interesting that the Ultima 7.5 appears to give better results (to my eye, at least).
I am learning from your experiences here, thanks!

Hi Graham P...
Again thanks for your valuable comments..
Hi All....
This time due to Covid-19, I can only restrict this Mars observing in my friend's roof top..
Otherwise, like 4 years ago, I have been enjoying with my group of friends, in a park, and after spending few hours observing Mars, we proceed for our late night supper...
Is a pity that by the end of this year, the great Jupiter and Saturn conjunction, will be on the western sky, and my friend's roof top view is block, otherwise I can do this great conjunction there, even a week in the advance...
Nevertheless, our small country, Singapore, may be moving towards phase 3, of this Covid-19, in December, that's outdoor activities may be permited, but still maintaining social distancing... Then I still have opportunity to put up this 8"ISTAR for public viewing...
Will update all of you

Yes, I remember when I joined, It helps in that I still have the same email address, AND still have the lens assembly I purchased from Istar.I did acquire a more proper sized tube, And machined some changes to the fitment of that assembly. I have moved, And have less city light where I am living, but it is in a deep valley so there is a much narrower field of view. Only this summer have I finally acquired a goto mount with enough capacity to support a 26 pound 6 inch , 4 ft long scope and be steady in the winds we have in Kansas.
MARS..
I was finally able to view mars this year during the event last month, and I actually got some good views of mars, using a 3.5mm eyepiece, with a 2 inch diameter Barlow and had NO, I repeat NO Chromatic aberration . The new mount is a Celestron CGX and it is rock-solid. Semi portable, as it does weigh a bit more than the LXD mount I was trying to use. I was able to discern mountain ranges, and surface color differences that I felt were really amazing. That wiped away the concern I had had all these years that I had built a lemon. It is a good telescope 1200 mm @ F/8, and now stable. I am lusting after a multi-speed focuser now, that is strong enough to support my camera systems. I couldn't believe that there was no aberration. I was viewing south east, through a break in some trees, but my wife came out to see mars too, twice, before and after putting the Barlow in the image train.
