You will probably need to contact Ales directly thru the Istar website.....I don't think they review this site anymore. I asked them a question here over 2 months ago and never received a response.
Good luck, Tom

Hi Alessandro...
You need to send email directly to Ales..
Also from their website it seems they only taking orders on a few models..
But you may talk to Ales to build one for you but it may take a few months...
In my opinion..if having a choice always go for the R series..rather than the std one as it has lesser CA.
Regards
James

Good luck, Tom Tom, what was the question? I really missed that one. You can always shoot me an email to ales@istar-optical.com or my personal ales.krivanek@icloud.com Im leaving US on Thursday, now Im in Page AZ, returning back to Tucson tomorrow. I will be back in US by second week of July. I have some medical related issues to take care of in Europe because the cost of surgery in US is simply too expensive... But I will do my best to stay in touch with you guys and I will respond to emails regularly except right after the surgery between June 6 and June 14 or so. Please bare with me. We have 6 of thees scopes still available, lenses are produced down to order in batches of 3. So waiting time is typically 4 to 6 weeks. cheers, Ales

Alessandro Alessandro, I have one OTA without lens available in Tucson. We can possibly mount 204 F8 achromat in this OTA. WE stopped production of this model because most people did not appreciate the concept, cheers, Ales

Thank you everyone for your concern about my health Everything should be OK no reason to worry much. Very unfortunately, and on top of everything my Mac completely broke down only two days after my arrival in Europe and just yesterday I was told that a complete motherboard needs to be replaced. So at this moment I am completely unable to respond to any business emails, so all of you reading these sentences please keep this in mind and possibly tell others on other forums. Thank you guys for your support !!!

Hey Ales... i just read about your surgery. Its the end of July now so you should be recovering now. I hope all went well.
I dont know if the OP bought the 204mm f/8 scope, but as an owner of that scope i can honestly say that I am super happy with my purchase. I have 3 telescopes. The iStar Asteria 204mm f/8, Takahashi TSA-102 and the Takahashi Epsilon 130D. I use the Epsilon exclusively for imaging wide field. For visual use, the iStar is without a doubt my favorite scope. Not much compares to the amazing views 8" of glass can give.
I have even used the iStar for imaging narrowband hydrogen alpha with very good results, but this big scope requires a solid mount for imaging due to the larger moment arm.
I won't type a huge review on my phone right now, but I will post again with some images to show the OP if they are still interested.

I just wanted to say also that i agree with James Ling... go for the highest R series you can get, outstanding performance for the money. I the iStar is maoing some R50 or higher rated lenses now. My R35 does show some CA, but is much reduced.

I am also interested in the this type of OTA. Are you making any of these still? I am looking for something light but with a good size optic. Are the 180mm all gone? I would also be interested in the 204 f6 if it is light enough.

I do have one display TCR OTA without lens 204 F8 model which I could possibly sell, even though I would much rather keep it for myself when ever we get to produce the lens for it.... most people did not realize all the advantages this type of construction can offer. Ive heard so many bad comments from people who never looked thru one of these...... Very hard to argue with such people.

I have few empty OTAs in stock (new model) so we can produce lenses if anyone is interested. cheers, Ales
