My Australian winter project has finally concluded its Beta testing and is a success...... Tested recently on the Great Orion Nebula several of the viewers were asked to describe what they saw, many said they could see blue/green 'wings', one young lady exclaimed " wow look at the blue green and reddish colours" Built entirely on my patio between 11 June and 11 September the only items that were bought rather than built were the primary secondary, focuser and alt bearings .

Great looking scope in a great setting.
The Dome of the 74" in the background looks like nothing ever happened on the mountain...if only that was true.
Would love to get the 6" and Gaunt up there one day and do some photos followed by a viewing....

At f5.5 do you use a coma corrector? Just set up my ES HRCC on the 10" f4.8 perfectly a couple of nights ago ( only owened it for two years now ) and the difference between close enough and spot on is remarkable...the OOUK with the OO spider on the secondary gives close to refractor images...I say close cause its not perfect. Keen to try the thing on the Planets when they are in more viewable positions from down south.

I won't be bothering with a coma corrector is seems to be fine without one. The mirror is almost 5.6 and so far the views are as good as I would expect. I have some new eyepieces to try out, a TV 55mm PL, a Tak LE24 and some Pentax XWs.
