I started a similar thread some time ago with the same subject title. Most people "lurk." They don't post because they think they have nothing interesting to say, no one will respond proving it's not interesting or the fear of saying something inaccurate and getting jumped on. Yes, the primary goal of this forum is Istar products. But we have tried to expand on the subject matter. Astronomy is a hobby (passion) with many facets. This forum is layed back. No harsh criticism here. No need to worry about having something super meaningful to say. Drop your guard for crying out loud. This is not CN or Yahoo. I post ignorant crap all the time. Who cares? Don't just lurk... POST SOMETHING PEOPLE! We want to hear from you. In fact, we would love to hear from you. If you don't own an Istar telescope so what. Maybe you will in the future. 206 people visiting this forum in the last 24 hours and what? Maybe two posts? What's up with that?

I work 60-70 hours a week at www.accurate-color.com . Woking at this manufacturing plant essentially cuts the internet out of your life. That is a good thing I guess, as I have lost 30lbs since I started. Mike: Round 1 of skybender prototypes should be arriving here soon. Do you want to take care of the shipping to Ales, or should I send it out?

Me too. By the way, do Newtonians show images "right side up" down there, or is everthing up side down like here in North America? Why is that such an odd question? Water turns the opposite way when it goes down the drain in Oz.

Newtonians and photons….I would say in my Newt, or Newty as we in Oz say (everything gets the 'y' treatment on the end ain't that right matey) the images are reversed L to R upside down and inverted once again just because! Water goes down the drain to the right as we now have a conservative government but in reality it goes down anti-clocwise at last look. Matt

To add what Mike wrote….you don't have to have an Istar scope to join up…I would highly recommend that you do buy one though ,great scopes! Getting a nice Achro like I did or an R 30/35 objective means you can avoid all the garbage about which $4000 5" APO is better this one or that one and where does the glass come from blah blah blah. There is a thread on Ice In Space IIS right now on this subject. Our very own Brian is in there talking sense as he always does (onya matey). As an Achro owner an Istar Achro owner, there is a visible difference, I feel totally above that kind of nonsense Cheers for now Matt

Thanks Matt , I had to shut down my computer Saturday night and crack a bottle of TQ because those 'Clowns' in that IIS thread and their BS was really starting to Irk , and I was not going to lower my self , I put the word out and received over 30 PM's of encouragement from the real refractor-holics waiting for me on sunday .
I see the Mods pulled that thread some time today , Peter rung me at work telling me this , this afternoon .
Yes we are way above that nonsence here and thanks for the kind words .
You seen the thread here on the shootout happening soon between old mate Brian's 115mm triplet and my Istar , luna only .

It wasn't easy but after I got the boot from CN I quit going there. I could still view it and just not post or sign up under another identity but I chose not to. Now that I've been away for so many months I have completely lost all desire. The grief and frustration of dealing with opinionated pin heads is just not worth it. The least experienced individuals have the strongest opinions. They are "ate up" with specs and test reports totaling ignoring actual eyepiece time. Inferior products made with cheap parts on vast assembly lines by poor underpaid mistreated people are put to direct comparison to companies like Istar. Of course, I'm underpaid and mistreated also but we use superior materials, hand assemble and individually test. Ales used to worry to death about what was being posted on CN. He would send me a frantic email about somebody posting some completely untrue nonsense but that hasn't happened for a while. I'm guessing he finally wised up also.

Just to clarify , these UO scopes are a like like Istar as they are made up using a triplet lens completely designed by a clever Australian , owner of a local astronomy shop here 'Astronomy Alive' and built in Japan using true Fluorite as the center element with 'Shott' elements either side .
The focusers are a 4 inch fully rotating , made in the USA thing of beauty .
The scope is assembled by UO to Chris's specifations so they are NOT ! your garden variety UO 102mm , 115mm and 130mm triplet APO , world class just like Istar's scopes .
I am looking forward to this shootout if the weather co-operates .
Yea pin heads ,, I like that Mike .

Hi ALL.... I can see from the past few months, more posting appearing in ISTARSCOPECLUB.... And many new topics , are added , and this will definitely see more posting and ultimately we can see the increase of our members... Although there seems to be lesser and lesser posting from me....., but I will definitely not forget to visit this ISTARSCOPECLUB.....forum.... I would very much like to post more often in this forum....., but work commitments and busy schedule are some of the reason why I am less active for the past one to two years.....partly due to my health , which now I am on hypertension medication.....and my weight has dropped from 82kg down to only 73kg..... I even stopped going oversea for the outreach program organized by one of our local university.... Now I can just committed to monthly sidewalk organized locally.....and some special events... And is just two weeks away, our June sidewalk at the local library area again..., which I hope I can attend with the 8" ISTAR.....and post them in this forum again.... I must admit I love to see people looking through our telescope, and seeing the expression from them, really make us coming back ad do it again and again.... Regards James Ling Attachments:

Hi Brian.... Thanks.....for your encouragement.... Hi All.... So sad last weekend , although over here in Singapore, the weather is good for our planned sidewalk event, unfortunately I could not return in time to join my friends.... As I am back only this weekend, and just want to share with all of you, an articles publish in our Sundays time paper , a small column , featuring our monthly sidewalk event at our local library... You can see the 8" ISTAR in the photo, which I will be planning to use it for this coming 5th July 2014 astronomy talk and sidewalk.... Hope in 3 weeks time, the regional haze will not affect our planned event..... Regards James Ling
