Well the weather today for the eclipse was good with a few clouds passing by , all in all a good day . this first lot of photos is the gear . My sweet 127mm Istar f8 doublet on its HEQ5 mountit is fitted with a 1.25inch 'Hershell wedge' and today I used a 12.5mm ED eyepiece .
As usual all photos are with my Windows 1020 hand held over the eyepiece un-touched and I hope you all enjoy we had a great day , man I took over 210 photos .

And finially ,,, 'Your's Truly' , out from under the black singlet that did all of us so well all afternoon .
All in all a marathon viewing session , only one of my mates had even looked thru a scope , let alone a partial solar eclipse and my ISTAR/Hershell wedge combo worked a treat .. giving awesomely detailed images and these photos don't do justice to this combo , but , hey its cool for cats and I love my Istar .
Thanks Mike , it was a great afternoon but tiring for me as the 6 mate's bar one had never looked thru a scope before so it took a while to even explain what they were seeing but the part I love about out reach is when the penny drops and they understand what they are seeing ,,,, after me telling them that the white ball in the eyepiece is 2 million km across and the moon is only 5000km across. ( 5 times each )
Yea a real bunch of burglers alright , LOL .
Mike the Istar performed wonderfully as said and the photos don't do justice to what was seen with the eye , most of that CA is a camera artefact as it could not work out what to shoot most of the time due to my shakes ..needed a cold beer for sure . Awsome afternoon ? , it sure was and here is me doing what I love the most ,, using my Istar and teaching people about our beautiful universe .
Really nice Brian. It's great to share the scope with the unwashed ain't it? Did that the other night with my beastie on the Gaunt….Where do I look? Ohhh in here, puts finger on the glass of the eyepiece …sigh! Had a chuckle at the pics of you all under towels and coats etc Matt
