Craig in reference to your previous question in Anastigmats. I did all of my polar adjustments at the base of my pier. My machinist some 32 years ago was also an ATM unbeknowst to me before I met him. He welded the RA base plate to the pier at a precise 40° angle. In the 3/4" base plate are 4 holes with a 1" bore. The concrete pier base has 3/4" bolts embedded in the concrete. All azimuth and elevation adjustments are made at the base plate. These adjustments are so minute that there is loads of adjustment room available. The plate itself sits on 4 washers and bolts which can be adjusted for plumb and elevation. The holes are large enough to move things in azimuth too. Mike

Mike,
Interesting, I hadn't thought of that. Now I must decide betweeen building an adjustable base at the pier, or a mechanism at the mount base. More decisions! I was hoping it was a simple to construct method that was not obvious, to go with your simple pier. Thanks, Craig
