Hi All.....
Just returned back from oversea , and 1st thing is also checked with my firends about last night and today's weather....
And from their replies to me, last night is so cloudy that no observation is carried out...
And today's weather is cloudy and raining......
Hi Craig ....
Is really very unfortunate that due to improper maintenance of the equipment, resulted in this fire outbreak.... But fortunately, when we view through all the CCTV camera installed around that area, I am glad I have a team of brave and fearless technical support staff, doing the 5 to 10mins of fire-fighting.... Otherwise the fire may spread bigger and affect a bigger area....
Hi Mike....
When you mentioned about dome, I really envy those people staying in this Indonesia country that I working now..... The houses here allow you to build additional levels, and you can actually design a dome at the upper level, higher than the trees and lamp posts surrounding it.... And is really great for astronomy......

Hi Bro...(JPB30)
Thanks for your comment.....
Hi ALL.
I wanted to do a lot of write up for this 8" Istar......, as I really has not seriously using any refractor for the past 13yrs.....
I never come to understand about CA and those bigger scope must really goes longer to contain this problem...
And I really waiting for the raycorr to hit the market, and get one tested out to see how much improvement in the CA from this 8" F8.8 scope.....
I have already pulled my trigger , to bring in something to pit against the ISTAR with raycorr combination....by next year, February 2013.
Hopefully this will be of interest to all ISTARSCOPECLUB members..... When I received that new scope.....

Quite a provocative post James. Wow! I thought you were pretty well set as far as a refractor goes! What can you possibly be going for now? I hope you won't leave us hanging for too long.

Hi Joe...../ and All members........
Sorry that I have indicated that I wanted to test the 8" Istar against another reputable scope.... I greatly feel that once the Istar raycorr is available, there is a good fight against another non Istar reputable scope
This 8" ISTAR 1st light, without the raycorr is already put to test with my friend APM 6" Triplet......at Jupiter......, 2 years ago when i received it....
The result is closely match when we both viewed at Jupiter , except the 6" triplet shows Jupiter disc very clear, while the Istar is softer...
Even the shadow of one of the jupiter moon, when fall onto Jupiter surface, the 6" triplet shows that it is much darker than the Istar....
The rest on the surface detail, whether is the 6" or the 8" , not much different.... So is it the bigger aperture of the 8" Istar light collecting power resulting this distinct difference? I really have no time to find out at that time...., as that 6" scope doesn't belong to me....
And now there is another similar scope that has been mentioned in CN, giving very positive sample test result, so i think this is going to be a good fight with my 8" Istar when I put on the raycorr.... The delivery for this new scope is in February.
As both scopes are mine, definitely is also a fairer comparison... And I do think under an ideal condition, the 8" must beat the 6", even it is an APO.... Not even talking about DSO......aperture rules....
