In this #2 pic we see the present configuration. The tube to tube distance is now a whopping 6" resulting a perfectly unobstructed FOV! Mike Attachments:

It's the little things that make the difference. Of course if you didn't have that really BIG thing, it wouldn't matter much anyway!

Mickey, sometime I'd like to see more of your setup. The scope of course but also the bunker I'm mean building. That is one serious setup and I like it. The mount doesn't have goto does it? By the looks of everything you're a traditionalist so I'm going to guess it's not. I want to someday walk out to my observatory and sit under a setup like that. I ENVY... Ever look at APM advertisements and see some of the setups Markus has done? Unbelievable! Fabulous scopes and mounts.

Watcher, It seems your more about the vehicle that the goal. Don't get me wrong Spidee. I enjoy the ride even in my cheap cars. But some of these guys have Ferrari's and great roads to drive them on! It's gonna take time to find the right roads, but I really think ISTAR is going to be a real Ferrari beater that I can afford.

I was wasting time looking through the "post a picture of your refractor" over on CN and found a picture taken from the objective end looking down on Mickey next to the eyepiece. Good picture. Really shows the scale of the scope and bunker, I mean observatory. I like looking at others setups.

Mikester I hate to burst your bubble but that's an old pic of my 8" Brandt. It was taken about a day or so before the transition began. The guy that took it nearly crapped his pants having to get upon the east roof which was right next to our second story deck railing. ;D Mike Attachments:
