hi ! i will be away for january.back in february to complete the scope (paint job mostly). first light was good but the seeing was 2/5 and cloud came fast after i when out, so jupiter was ok in my light polluated site. in february i will go to the club site and play with it more seriously. have fun vince Attachments:

Vince,
Looking good! I may have to consider one of these octagonal tubes as well. I does simplify some things as well, such as no need for rings since you can just bolt a dovetail plate to one of the flat sections. Same for finder shoes.

thank you. bolting birectly on one side yes maybe, but you have to be realy sure of your gluing. maybe just had some doubler inside where the screws could have a good grip,this is what i did for the finder.also you will have to find the aproximative ballance point. so make sure the stiffeners cover a long area, and it will also had some weight.
like you can see on my last picture i use 6'' (150mm) tube ring, it will be modified to have a better look it is simple and no screw on the tube.

If I were to build a scope this is the method I think I would use. I love the look and believe it would be light weight-ish.
