9. Last week the weather is not promising, but I managed to do my star alignment to VEGA.... Although my tracking is still not perfect...., which I suspect either is the limitation of my G11 60 LB capacity...., but I still managed to check the collimation with my 4mm EP which is 450X..... The collimation is still perfect with my standard, and is circular and symmetrical. The photo shown is not taken from the ISTAR, but is similar to what I am seeing.... I need not have to do any collimation adjustment at all , after I dismantled the OTA and counter cell, and then even cut the tube to two and assembled them back again. And this again validates my initial idea to cut this tube, as I previously dismantled it once last year, when I brought it to Punggai Chalet, and I also never collimate the len cell as I found it circular and symmetrical....( Unlike my 2 other OTA, C14 , and C8, are a bit out of collimation ) As weather is quite bad, I only managed to view the double double at Vega, which this ISTAR splits it easily.... Then I dismantled the whole OTA from the Losmandy mount , using the reversed method.... Hopefully in the coming week, I can update all of you again on the ISTAR first side walk , in my country........ REgards James Ling Attachments:

Hi All. Just a little update on the 1st side walk I did yesterday, which is a holiday in our region, with this ISTAR after my modification. 1. You can see now the cut OTA can easily go into my car, to be transported to the side walk location.... continue....... REgards James Ling Attachments:

4. Five mounting screws are then used to fasten the OTA together. If you see the mount I used for this 8" achro setup , is just the GM8 tripod and my G11 mount, with G2. continue.... REgards James Ling Attachments:

5. The last thing to do is to fix the mounting ring with the dovetail onto the OTA....You can see simple marking I used to align the OTA, as well as the mounting rings. If you are buying ISTAR mounting rings, you'll be shocked to know how heavy it is , and this is how the 45LB OTA is secured rigidly .... continue.... Regards James Ling Attachments:

7. This still photo shot I extract from my 1 minute video recorded from my canon 550D.. Just a little summary of what I observed during yesterday night...... 1. I used the WO V-minus, as I know the moon will show thin greenish at the edge.. But is not very noticeable when I set the zoom power at 24mm to 75X. 2. The view of Jupiter is very sharp and crisp at 225X when I zoom in to 8mm . The clouds bands are very clear, and the 4 moons are so close and sharp. I also don't noticed any CA around the edges of Jupiter........ REgards James Ling Attachments:

Great video James. You could use more friends w/ scopes to help with that line you have there. Hi Brother. Thanks for your comments.... Hi All. As it was a last minute decision between my friend , who is staying around that area, and myself (20km away), when he noticed the weather changes, as the last few weeks has been very cloudy and heavy rain, since this is also our monsoon raining season, we put up this side walk message in our local forum... We have our friends turned up for this special event, but since the next day is going to be working day for all of us, only my friend brought along his 8" meade, the rest just turn up to support this event. I have to admit this simple event , is very tiring.... whereby at 5pm, I started to dismantle my scope and load into my car, then without dinner, I dove all the way down to the local library area by 7pm to meet up with my friend. Both of us setup the OTA, and by then already 8pm, with many people queuing up, just waiting for this side walk.... And this is non stop until around 10pm, when one of my friend, signal me to stop, but the queue is still there...... But I still need to stop around 10.30pm, then start to dismantle, and drove back home..... unpack......by the time I took a bath and went to bed, is around 2am..... At 6.30am................. I woke up, and with my aching body, I need to rush to work.......But as I always say..... Is worth the trouble..... Regards James Ling
