THIS IS HOW MASSIVE THE 8" ISTAR WHEN YOU DO THE SETUP....... BUT IF YOU ARE USED TO " LONG " ACHRO....THERE IS NOTHING TO WORRY ..... AND I CAN SINGLE HANDED ASSEMBLE AND DISASSEMBLE THIS MYSLEF, EXCEPT WHEN MOUNTING THE OTA ONTO THE LOSAMNDY MOUNT. WHICH IS 7 FT TALL....

Hi James, you seldom see a telescope that can make an AP900 look small, but your Istar does. Good to see you have managed to introduce more people to the delights of telescopic astronomy. What better than a classic refractor for outreach. I had the pleasure of getting my first view of Saturn in a big telescope with Patrick Moore's 5" refractor. I had a 60mm telescope at the time so the views through the big refractor in the company of the great man led me to a lifetime of observing. Just imagine who you may be inspiring to take up a career in science. Keep up the good work!

Hi Ian...
Thanks for your comments....
And although my F8.8 is not easy to handle, unlike the F6 version...., but for city side walk outreach purpose, I find it to be very suitable , for bringing astronomy to everyone, who are so excited to come to know that they can see wonderful things , in the night sky....
I will continue to support my friends' outreach activities, whenever I have the time, after my busy work schedule....
Regards
James Ling

Love it James. If I'm ever in Singapoe I'll know where you are by the long line of people queuing up behind your 8". Actually your Youtube video on setting up the 8" is how I heard about Istar in the first place. Matt

Thank you for sharing the photo about the AP900 and your refractor. It gives me an idea about what direction needs to be taken in means of refractor size on an AP900:) I really appreciate your effort, James. Thank you. Viktor.

Hi Matt and Viktor...
Thanks ....
I came to know about ISTAR only through Astronomy magazine...not even knowing about CN and ISTARSCOPECLUB.. And till now been very happy with my 8" F8.8...I can only envy those who are getting or already received the 8" F12 R30/35.., as well as larger one like the 9" or 10".....coz of my mount....unless I upgrade to higher capacity one. Hope to hear more from the rest of the members....
James
