There now you've done it. Istar will start to market ready made 2x4 telescopes with baffles no doubt. Best of all they'll guarantee collimation with high grade no warp wood too! ;D ;D Mike

Hi Vince
Good photos and welcome! I am very pleased to hear from another owner of one of these lenses. I see yours has different style of writing on the cell and the serial number also written. That is good, my one does not have a serial number on the lens only on the test report. Did you see my thread on Cloudy Nights? I put lot's of pictures there. I can put more here also if you need it.

Mike I'm glad to stir up some business for Istar, I am a fan and want to see more home made refractors! I would like to encorage others to try wooden scopes. My method is really just a variation of the one described by Richard Berry in his book. www.willbell.com/tm/tm2.htm. I use thinner ply with no stringers and make the whole tube octagonal not just the focuser end. This makes it lighter and better looking IMHO. Long focal length doublet lenses are very easy to collimate with just a cheshire eyepiece and very forgiving if collimation is not exact anyway. Andy

hi Andy !
i'm glad you reply. yes i saw your post on CN. this is what convince me to try to make one like yours. very nice scope, very nice work. i will start making the tube soon. i plan to make the tube 43'' (1092mm) long, and use a GSO focuser with extentions rings (2 x 2'') for a total focuser lenght of 390mm. so it give room for binovue,diagonal...
i will post more pictures and coments of my work as long as it progress.
any comments are welcomes
Vince

Excellent job, amazing scope Andy!! Enjoy the views and keep us all informed. Now, are you ready for 180mm R35 SLIM lens? We will have these in both F8 and F12. We are looking for at least two more buyers before we run these thru production. Well... had to ask. But I am quite serious. Anyone interested in thewe newly redesigned, low weight lenses, give us a call or write to Mike Harden in Florida. We will have the following ready for production and we need more buyers
150 F12 R35 SLIM 180 F8 R35 SLIM 180 F12 R35 SLIM 204 F8 R35 SLIM 204 F12 R35 SLIM
all are optimized to work with Raycorr Pro6 chromatic aberration reducer.
best regards, Ales
