John, we have finished few extra lenses and we will soon offer a big discount on all first generation OTAs. We have over 30 scopes in stock, all will be offered at cost or below cost. Many of these OTAs wont be available again so any of you thinking about getting a new iStar scope, don't hesitate for much longer! The second and third generation scopes will be offered in 150 F5 R50, 204 F8 R35 and 204 F6 Achro and possibly 228 F7 Achro. All tubes are now made in USA, all scope parts are still made in European Union. We will continue to produce lenses for ATM-ers without any changes. At this moment we are working on several new project, if they work out I will post details right here and on CN. Lenses for all these new special projects are now made in Europe. Im sure many of your will appreciate this fact. Best regards, Ales

Hello John,
we are just now putting together a list of items in stock. Yesterday I calculated sale prices on these items and Mike will post them within next couple of days.
One customer called me the other day requesting info on Ares WFT 150-5 R50 and Phoenix WXT 204-6. We have the 6" R50 Ares in stock, ready to ship and 8" F/6 Phoenix model in latest body style will be available very soon. We already have all scope parts in US, we are just waiting for the thin wall tubes to be finished and powder coated. Mike is taking care of assembly and testing of these scopes. Oh, the 204 F/5.9 lenses are also available, we should have 3 in stock and more will be produced soon.
So thank you guys for your patience. We will offer all older body style scopes (with newest lens designs) at 45 percent off the regular price. All this means that we are selling these scopes at below cost! If any of you were waiting for a good opportunity to buy a rock solid iStar OTA, there will never be a better time and chance. I seriously do not plan on selling any more scopes at below production cost in the future.
All new OTAs will be made in the latest body style, super lightweight, all CNC machined, tubes and dew shields produced here in USA!
Also, we are now producing some lens prototypes in England, if all goes well, many new iStar scopes will be made entirely in EU and US.
best regards,
Ales

Hello John, the person I talked to about purchase of our newest model Phoenix WXT 204-6LT was from US I believe. Im actually quite happy to see that many people are now interested in this new fast refractor. We can ship your scope with 3.5" rack and pinion focuser, no problem. Actually, I do recommend this size focuser for this large aperture but compact OTA. I called Mike and left message, he will get back with you about price of shipping to Australia. We just sold one of these also to Australia, it was delivered couple weeks ago, the guy purchased it thru OPT, if Im not mistaken. The guy is extremely happy with the scope, he is only experiencing some issue with the "Rotolock" system on his 3.5" focuser. We are working together with WO (who is producing these focusers for us) to resolve this issue ASAP. So you will be another proud owner of this truly magnificent scope. This scope was tested by several world class astronomers, all gave it the highest rating. The lens in these scope was redesigned about one year ago, uses new negative element which further reduces CA and allows for unmatched resolution. Still, you and everyone else should remember that this scope is made for wide field, low power observation of deep space. This is not a planetary scope even though you will get some nice images of Jupiter or Saturn. Moon look also beautiful with lost of detail thru this refractor. Just remember not to push magnification much over 0.35D (about 71x). Previously we recommended 0.25D but that was indeed too conservative. Neil English pushed magnification to nearly 1.0D and still got reasonably good images considering how fast this "sweetened" achromat is. Stay in touch, talk to you soon. If you need answers for any technical question, simply write to ales@istar-optical.com Best regards, Ales

Hi Ales, thankyou for the detailed reply,I'm also getting mine on the strength of the write-up by Neil English in the Astonomy Now mag.I find I am enjoying more wide field and now I want rich field viewing. most of my ep's are 2" TV's, 31 Nagler type 5, 21 Ethos should go well with the 8"and my Denk binos with power switch and 19 panoptics should be great. I always try to support a company that strives to produce a great product.Kind Regards John.

Hi John,
That is quite a first telescope! I had been observing for twenty years before I purchased my first 150mm refractor (I started out with my Dad's binoculars and then a 50mm refractor). 150mm unobstructed aperture is a size that can reveal a wealth of details on the moon and planets and has sufficient aperture to show a whole host of deep sky objects. It was with my 150mm refractor that I first explored the deep sky past the obvious messier objects. I can't wait to hear your observing experiences with this telescope. I hope you have access to dark and steady skies!
Best wishes,
Ian
