Have just bought second hand a bunch of ortho's. 5mm UOHD 6 7 9 12.5 UO VT's Add those to my bino pair's of 18 25 UOVT's and RKE 28's and I'm another happy refractorholic How on earth do you clean a 5mm ortho lens? If it ever gets dirty that is. Any other ortho users out there? Will put in a photo soon. Matt

With me, the jury is still out on Orthos. I spent one night using a friends Zeiss Abbe Orthos but was not that impressed. But most say that is crazy. I noticed that University Optics has brought back the Abbe Orthos and at $95 is very affordable. I guess I need to give them another chance. So what does 5 used Orthos cost in Australia. You mind telling?

OK...so a year and a bit later I finally get round to doing a photo. All UOVT Orthos pairs of 25 and 18mm 12.5 9 7 6 5. Beautiful..even the 5mm. You may notice an interloper the Parks Gold 10mm Plossl...one of the few Plossls I actually like. Shame the Golds are no longer made The 25 and 18mm pairs combined with WO Binos and ES 2 and 3 x Focal Extenders are my choice for Planets and Lunar viewing pleasure. The others get used when I want more than the 'OK' ES 82ยบ I have, leave me wanting more....which is often enough. Of late I'm on the search for better than ES glass...read Delos or a Leica zoom...yet to decide. Love the longer fl ES eyepieces from 14mm up....just the short ones leave me wanting more than they can give.
